2014 Preseason AP Poll Rankings Released

The months and months of Saturdays being endured without college football will soon be in the rearview. The 2014 college football season is quickly approaching and we can welcome back the long awaited tailgates, camaraderie, and competition.

Each year there are clues and teases that this time of year is approaching: the start of summer camp, conference media days, and patiently waiting for the announcement of your team’s starters. However, it is the release of the major college football polls that really solidifies the return of college football to your Saturday.

There is no surprise here that the AP has Florida State ranked No.1 followed by: Alabama, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Ohio State finishing out the top 5. The reigning National Champs secured 57 number-one votes, while Alabama, Oregon, and Oklahoma each had one vote for the top spot. Auburn, the SEC Champions who lost to Florida State in the National Championship last year, were ranked lowest in this poll than the others at the No.6 slot.

The AP also shows they are believers in the SEC (at least for now), as eight teams from this conference were ranked in their Top 25.
