The Daily Reveille first reported that sophomore cornerback Rashard Robinson and freshman wide receiver Malachi Dupre did not travel with the team to Houston to face the Wisconsin Badgers tomorrow night.
According to a source close to the Advocate’s Ross Dellenger, Robinson will miss the opener due to a suspension. Malachi Dupre has dealt with an injured hamstring but Dellenger also noted that he out due to a sprained ankle.
Head coach Les Miles is expected to address the situation tomorrow before kickoff.
Robinson made a big impact as a freshman for the Tigers. He started his first game against Texas A&M and held wide receiver and future top 10 pick Mike Evans to only 51 yards receiving. He finished his freshman campaign with 16 tackles and one interception. He is expected to start alongside fellow sophomore cornerback Tre’Davious White this season.
Malachi Dupre was a five-star prospect out of John Curtis high school (River Ridge, LA). The 6’3, 187 pound receiver can stretch the field and is expected to see the ball come his way plenty his freshman season after the departures of Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry.
The Tigers will take on the Wisconsin Badgers tomorrow on ESPN at 9 p.m. eastern.
