After aggravating his hip flexor in their 28-24 loss to LSU, Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon is recovering and expected to suit up this Saturday against Western Illinois. Defensive lineman Konrad Zagzebski is also expected play after he was hit in the neck. He had a CT scan and MRI, and both results came back negative.
“Melvin’s been good all week and Zags did some (work) today,”stated head coach Gary Anderson after Thursday’s practice. “I didn’t quite get a great look at him through his reps but I know he wasn’t taken out of any drills, and he looked fine.”
Gordon rushed for 140 yards on 16 carries and missed most of the second half.
In other injury news, Badgers’ defensive tackle Warren Herring will miss four weeks after he underwent surgery on his right knee. He was injured during the third quarter in the loss against the Tigers.
Wisconsin is set to play Western Illinois tomorrow at 12 p.m. ET.
