Miss. State QB Dak Prescott Ready To Take On LSU

Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott is well aware of what tomorrow night’s game against (8) LSU means to the Bulldogs.

But it likely means more to him than anyone else.

Prescott grew up 265 miles north of Baton Rouge in Haughton, Louisiana. He committed to Dan Mullen and Mississippi State in the summer leading up to his senior year and was confident in his decision.

Most kids from Louisiana cannot wait for their turn to wear the purple and gold. Not Prescott.

“I didn’t want to go to a team that had already won a championship and had been in the top 10 every year,” said Prescott. “I wanted to help a team grow and be a part of something special, and I thought Mississippi State had the best chance at the time.”

Mississippi State is trying to end its 14 game losing streak to the Tigers they feel that this may be their best opportunity in years.  The junior has led the Bulldogs to a 3-0 record and has the nation on alert. He has thrown for 696 yards, nine touchdowns to only two interceptions and has also rushed for 273 yards plus another two scores on the ground.

This will be the first time Prescott is facing LSU in Baton Rouge. Last season, he split reps with fellow quarterback Tyler Russell. He tallied 209 total yards and scored on a 28 yard run but Mississippi State surrendered 28 fourth-quarter points and lost 59-28 to the Tigers.

Fast-forward a year later, Prescott holds the keys to this team with no one else standing in his way. He’s ready for the challenge.

“I’m looking forward to leading my team into a hostile environment,” Prescott said. “It’s us going against the world. I think we’re ready and we’re excited about the challenge. It’s exciting to go back and play in my home state, but the opponent, LSU, doesn’t change anything, doesn’t mean anything different. It’ll be an exciting win.”

We’ll find out tomorrow night if his confidence pays off.
