While the bulk of the nation readies for former college football stars to start their professional careers following the NFL Draft, schools are already at work trying to build the next batch of young talent. And when we say “young” we mean “not even graduated from high school yet.”
High school recruit Justin Watkins picked up a verbal agreement with LSU on Thursday, 247Sports.com reports.
Watkins had received verbal offers from Georgia, Florida, Miami, Louisville, Oregon State and UCLA, before ultimately deciding on LSU on Thursday morning.
The ahtlete from Citra, Florida said, “That’s my college team. It’s the school I grew up liking. I’ve always liked LSU. It’s the one (offer) I’ve always wanted. My mom said she’s always dreamed of her son one day graduating in the gold and purple.”
The Class of 2018 member caught five touchdowns and returned three kickoffs for scores in his freshman year at North Marion.
