Alabama 5-Star Recruit Not Fazed By Team’s Hard Schedule

Per college football expert Phil Steele, the Alabama Crimson Tide have the toughest schedule of the upcoming season. However, five-star running back Damien Harris isn’t fazed one bit.

The Crimson Tide went 12-2 (7-1 SEC) last season en route to its 24th SEC title and the No. 1 seed in the inaugural College Football Playoff, where they were defeated by Ohio State. Now, it appears that the universe (or maybe ‘Bama AD Bill Battle) wants to up the stakes and see Alabama run a gauntlet of tough opponents in 2015.

The Tide will play twelve games this season, and six of the team’s opponents finished in either the College Football Playoff Top 25: Wisconsin, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Georgia, LSU and Auburn. Of the remaining six, half of those are programs in a prime position to improve upon last year’s performance: Arkansas, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

It’s also worth noting that two thirds of Alabama’s opponents this year are members of the SEC and while in-conference play is standard procedure, it’s truly a testament to how competitive the SEC really is. Moreover, Saban won’t have to worry about other SEC rivals in Missouri and Florida, at least for the regular season.

Anyway, back to Harris’s words. Considering how he has yet to play a down against any of the SEC’s signature bone-crushing defenses, it’s tough NOT to admire his confidence going into the season. Just how much playing time he’ll receive remains to be seen, but expect him to play with power and passion and laugh in the face of this tough schedule.

Also, even if you’re not an Alabama fan, make sure you catch at least SOME of what are sure to be great games in which they play.
