Let’s face it, Rob Gronkowski didn’t need another reason to party his face off this offseason. Smartly, fans elected to place New York Giants’ star wideout, Odell Beckham Jr. on the cover of EA Sports’ Madden NFL 16 over Boston’s beloved Gronk.

All joking aside, it would have been fun to see Rob Gronkowski on the cover, but Odell Beckham Jr. brings plenty to the table as the face of one of the most popular sports video games ever. Beckham earned Offensive Rookie of the Year honors after grabbing 91 passes for a total of 1305 yards and 12 touchdowns in just 12 games last season after battling hamstring issues. And in case you weren’t paying attention, several of those catches came by way of highlight reel, top ten caliber plays.
The large stage of New York city has been the perfect platform for Beckham to ascend to a superstar level and he has certainly delivered for the star crazy New York fans and media. The honor of gracing the Madden cover will do nothing but increase his stardom.
Unfortunately, every year the Madden cover player is announced we also feel the need to address the infamous Madden curse. You know the names, Daunte Culpepper, Shaun Alexander, Vince Young, Peyton Hillis… who??
That’s not happening to the 22 year old Beckham, so let’s not even bother with it and enjoy his spectacular 2015 season.
