Oklahoma DB: ‘Frank Shannon is back’ with Sooners

The Oklahoma Sooners defense may be receiving a huge boost.

According to a tweet from Oklahoma defensive back Zach Sanchez, former Sooners’ leading tackler Frank Shannon is set to return to the team for the upcoming college football season.

Shannon was suspended for the entire 2014 season after he was accused of sexual assault. One week after the initial allegations, the Cleveland County (Okla.) District Attorney’s Office declined to pursue charges.

However, a Title IX investigation led to the suspension which was upheld by the Oklahoma Supreme Court.

Whether Shannon actually will return to the team remains to be seen, but it would be a great addition to the Sooners defense.
