Former Auburn Tigers defensive back Derrick Moncrief is now enrolled at Oklahoma State. James Crepea of AL.com reported that Moncrief had enrolled in classes in Stillwater.
It has not yet been confirmed whether or not Moncrief is on the Cowboys’ roster, but Moncrief did post on Instagram that he is at the university, and probably for more than just taking classes.
Moncrief announced back in May that he was transferring out of Auburn, having transferred into the Tigers’ program from junior college. In 13 games with the team, he had 27 tackles and a forced fumble and will probably have to sit out the upcoming season, per NCAA transfer rules.
He will now join a Cowboys squad that could use some help on the defensive side of the ball. Oklahoma State ranked 11th in passing defense in 2014, down from 95th the year before. Hopefully, once he steps on the field, he can provide some much-needed help to the secondary.
Oklahoma State opens the season on the road against Central Michigan on September 3.
