Auburn LB Kris Frost does spot-on impression of DC Will Muschamp

As Machiavelli said in The Prince, “it would be best to be both feared and loved, but since the two rarely come together, it is far safer to be feared.” I believe Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp would be glad to endorse this mantra.

In a recent interview with Auburn LB Kris Frost, Frost described and recreated the menacing looks Muschamp has doled out to misbehaving players.

Although Muschamp has only been at Auburn for less than a year, his players understand his business-first demeanour, and will do whatever it takes to stay on his good side. Watch Frost talk trepidatiously about Muschamp, still carrying fear about being on the receiving end of Muschamp’s infamous Medusa-eqsue gaze.

Hopefully, for Kris Frost’s sake, this video never finds its way back to Muschamp. If it does, it will be more than a stern look that Frost should be nervous about.

Muschamp is looking to reinvigorate Auburn’s defense, an area they struggled in last year, finishing 11th in the SEC in yards/play allowed. Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn has the utmost confidence that Muschamp will right the ship, calling him “ the best defensive mind in all of football, not just college football.”

If the fear Muschamp strikes in the hearts of his own players is anything remotely close to the feeling opposing offenses have when they play Auburn, I think they’ll be just fine. Look for Auburn to be in the AP Top 25 all year, but with the SEC being the most competitive division in college football, it will take a near-perfect season to see them have a chance at the FBS playoffs.
