Oklahoma State DT Vili Leveni will miss 2015 season

Oklahoma State defensive tackle Vili Leveni has undergone surgery and will miss the entire season. Leveni made the announcement on his Facebook page.

Details of the injury were not revealed, but it is believed to be an Achilles tendon issue.

It certainly is a blow to the Cowboys’ defensive line, as Leveni was expected to start in 2015. The former recruit out of L.D. Bell High School in Hurst, Texas, near Fort Worth, appeared in 13 games last season and had 16 tackles (4.5 for a loss) and one sack.

Considering how Oklahoma State ranked 94th in total defense last season, losing Leveni up front could prove to hurt the team quite a bit. Hopefully, head coach Mike Gundy is able to right the ship and turn in a strong season regardless.

Oklahoma State opens the season on the road against Central Michigan on September 3.
