Four-star running back Jordan Stevenson, formerly of Dallas’ South Oak Cliff High School, has been denied admission to Wisconsin, with whom he signed back in September, and will receive his release. Ryan Bartow of 247 Sports reported the development.
Badgers coach Paul Chryst and running backs coach John Settle both spoke to Stevenson this afternoon and informed him that Wisconsin’s Chancellor denied the student-athlete admissions.
247Sports.com has confirmed this situation through a source on both ends.
Stevenson will receive his release from Wisconsin in the morning and be eligible to attend a new school of his choice as he’s an NCAA qualifier.
No reason has been given for Stevenson’s being denied admission, but one can only assume that it is academically-related. Regardless, Stevenson took to Twitter to express his gratitude, not to mention that his recruitment was open again (in a Tweet that has since been deleted).
Just where Stevenson ends up next is anybody’s guess. He was originally committed to Texas before de-committing and signing with Wisconsin, but also received offers from Alabama, Ohio State, UCLA, Louisville and Arkansas, among others.
Campus Sports will update Stevenson’s situation as more information becomes available.
