Getting your wisdom teeth out just plain stinks. It’s painful, the medication you get afterwards makes you loopy and incoherent, and sleeping gets hard when you’re waking up every four hours once the pain flares up.
It just so happens that Oklahoma Sooners fullback Dimitri Flowers is the newest member of this club, thanks to a video a friend of his posted to his personal Twitter page.
And suddenly, everyone who has ever had their wisdom teeth out (myself included) is flooded with memories of when they just got out of surgery. In my case, I was cocky and thought “I feel great! I can drink something for sure,” before the iced tea I attempted to drink dribbled down my chin out of my mouth, since my lip was still numb.
But Flowers is a tough individual and though he may be hurting now, he’ll be feeling much better in a week or less. At that point, with or without a milkshake, he can step back on the field and continue preparing for the upcoming season.
The Sooners open the season at home against the MAC’s Akron Zips on September 5.
