Tennessee reinstates WR Von Pearson

Tennessee has reinstated star wide receiver Von Pearson to the football team just days after it was announced that he would not face charges following allegations of rape. The Volunteers football program announced the decision on its personal Twitter page.

A senior, Pearson was placed on indefinite suspension back in April after being named as a suspect in a rape investigation, but Knox County DA Charme Allen announced earlier this week that Pearson would not be charged due to insufficient evidence.

Pearson’s return will be a boon for the Vols, as he was second on the team with 393 receiving yards on 38 receptions last season. He also had a team-best five touchdown receptions. If he can keep his head screwed on straight and get into game shape in time for Tennessee’s season opener against Bowling Green on September 5, it could be a revitalizing season for both himself and the team.
