Lane Kiffin: I still have a lot to learn at Alabama

Alabama Crimson Tide offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin has had some success in Tuscaloosa, so it was no surprise that the former Tennessee Volunteers, USC Trojans and Oakland Raiders head coach generated some interest from different coaching vacancies this offseason.

But was Kiffin ever close to leaving?

If his recent comments are any indication, Kiffin is happy with his current situation at Alabama.

When teams were gauging his interest in their positions, Kiffin was doing nothing more than his due diligence by looking at what those opportunities presented him. In fact, Kiffin seems to be very excited about what is to come at Alabama and he believes that he still has a lot to learn.

“Until the end of the year when those things happen, I don’t think about it,” Kiffin said, via ESPN. “You sign the contract and go to work and worry about that stuff afterwards.

“So the calls that come, obviously you’re going to listen to them. But I just really felt that we had done so many good things in Year 1, but this chapter wasn’t over yet. There’s still so many things to learn.”

Kiffin had a very positive impact on the Crimson Tide offense last season, so they have to be thrilled to have him back on the sidelines and in the meeting rooms.

This season, Alabama will be looking to continue making strides on offense under Kiffin as they kick off the season at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Sept. 5. Alabama’s season-opener will be against Big Ten juggernaut Wisconsin.
