Eron Gordon is one of the more intriguing prospects in the 2016 college basketball recruiting class and he has officially set his college announcement date. According to Gordon on Twitter, the four-star guard will announce where he will be playing his college basketball on Saturday at 12 p.m.
It definitely raises intrigue about where he will go, but at least we don’t have too much longer to wait around.
At this point in time, Gordon is going to choose between Purdue, Arizona State, Auburn, Butler, Indiana, LSU, Nebraska, Nevada, Notre Dame and Xavier. That is an obviously tough list to choose between, but the state of Indiana is obviously something that intrigues him. Staying close to home to play college basketball is always a very nice option.
Gordon is one of the most dynamic scoring guards that are still available in the 2016 recruiting class. Whoever ends up getting him will be getting an excellent perimeter shooter and a scorer that can help their program in a big way.
Another part of this entire process is the fact that Gordon is the third brother from the family to be making a leap to Division I basketball. His older brothers Eric and Evan Gordon both played at Indiana University, and Eric is still playing to this day for the New Orleans Pelicans in the NBA. Eron may not be quite as good as Eric, but he certainly has the potential to have a very successful collegiate career.
During the adidas Gauntlet tournament this past spring, Gordon ended up averaging 19.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. His game is without question capable of transferring smoothly to the next level, and every team on his list could use a young guard to come in and give them a bright future in the back-court.
All of that being said, Gordon has set his announcement date and we won’t have to sit on pins and needles much longer to find out where he’ll take his talents at the next level.
