3-star F Christian Matthews commits to Georgia Tech

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are not known for their basketball program, but they are still trying to turn things around and become a much better team. It hasn’t been easy for them to bring in quality players in recruiting, but they finally received their first 2016 commitment from three-star forward Christian Matthews.

Matthews isn’t going to be the type of player that can take over and turn the basketball program around by himself, but he is a solid role player that can help do that in time.

At 6-foot-6 and 190 pounds, there is no question that Matthews has the physical ability to become something special at the next level. He’s not likely to jump into his collegiate career and dominate as a freshman, but he will be asked to be a role player immediately. If he continues to work hard on his game and allow the Georgia Tech coaching staff to mold him throughout his career, the sky is the limit for him moving forward.

It will be very interesting to see how Matthews plays throughout the 2015-16 high school season. He has one more year to refine his game and become the best that he can be heading into his college career.

Georgia Tech is very excited about this pickup for their future, but only time will tell if he can pan out moving forward.

Expect to see Matthews become a starter at some point in his first couple seasons with the Yellow Jackets. He certainly seems to be a big pickup for them, but he has to continue working hard and can’t allow his commitment to let him take a break.
