LSU RB Leonard Fournette now Bovada’s Heisman favorite

The race for this year’s Heisman Trophy is a big one, with so many contenders from so many schools deserving of being named a finalist. But in the eyes of sports betting website Bovada, the odds-on favorite right now is LSU Tigers running back Leonard Fournette.

ESPN’s Brett McMurphy tweeted the new odds.

It’s near-impossible to argue against these odds, as Fournette has been near-unstoppable this season despite LSU’s original season opener against McNeese State being cancelled due to weather. In two games, against SEC opponents in Mississippi State and Auburn, Fournette has run for 387 yards and six touchdowns on just 47 carries. Georgia running back Nick Chubb may have more yards with 468, but only has four touchdowns despite playing an extra game. That could be due to the fact that he has often been benched in the second half this season after a great first half, but the fact that Fournette ran wild over two tough SEC squads in his first two games says something.

At this point, with LSU set to take on the ACC’s Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome on Saturday, the award is easily Fournette’s to lose.
