It looks like the Georgia Bulldogs have locked down their defensive coordinator, and he comes from the same school as the new head coach.
According to Fox Sports’ Bruce Feldman, new coach Kirby Smart has hired Alabama defensive backs coach Mel Tucker to be Georgia’s new defensive coordinators.
Tucker, 44, has spent time as a coach at the NFL level for a decade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns and Chicago Bears.
Players on the Bulldogs roster have to be stoked for Tucker to come in, simply because of the experience he brings. He’s only been “on the job” for a few weeks now, but it’s clear that Smart is building up a nice staff in Athens.
