‘Saban’ becoming popular baby name in Alabama

The State of Alabama has either officially gone crazy or takes its football way too seriously.

According to a report from Ben Cohen of The Wall Street Journal, there are 20 babies in Alabama that were given the first name “Saban” by their parents, in honor of Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban who has gone 99-18 (57-12 SEC) and won three national championships in nine seasons in Tuscaloosa.

So, I guess some Alabama fans are like infamous Seinfeld character George Costanza, who wanted to name his child “Soda” or “Seven.”

Either way, though no Alabama babies born in 2015 were named Saban, that could change after Monday night’s championship game against Clemson.

Hey, maybe if Clemson wins, we’ll see a bunch of South Carolina babies named “Dabo”?
