Lil Wayne tells Ben Simmons to be more assertive

LSU star forward Ben Simmons has a boatload of talent and is easily one of the best players in the nation right now, but he has flaws in his game like any other star as hip-hop sensation Lil Wayne pointed out on Twitter.

Specifically, Lil Wayne said what every one of Simmons’ critics has said: he must be more aggressive.

Lil Wayne isn’t far off. Simmons had 14 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in the Tigers’ 77-75 loss to No. 1 Oklahoma yesterday, but did not score once in the final 10 minutes and fouled out of the game. Talented though Simmons is, his offense consists of two scoring methods: dunking and right-handed layups. For someone 6-foot-10, 225 pounds, he should be developing an interior game as well as a jump shot if he wants to have a successful NBA career.

LSU next takes on Auburn on Tuesday, so hopefully Simmons diversifies his approach over the rest of the season.
