Benson Henderson to fight for welterweight title in Bellator debut

The date, location and opponent for former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson’s Bellator debut has been set.

On Tuesday, one day after the news of Henderson to Bellator broke, it was reported by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto that Henderson will make his promotional debut at Bellator 153 on April 22nd at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Henderson (23-5) will challenge Andrey Koreshkov for the Bellator MMA welterweight title.

Koreshkov (18-1) has been out of action since winning the title on July 17 last summer.  The 25-year-old Russian has frightening knockout power and carries a five-fight winning streak into the bout vs. Henderson.

For the former UFC champ, who made his welterweight debut in 2015, he carries a two-fight winning streak into the Bellator cage.
