ESPN College GameDay is in College Station today for the Aggies’ matchup with Kentucky and during this afternoon’s show, the topic of conversation came to the overall legacy of Kentucky coach John Calipari, easily one of the most polarizing figures in the history of the game.
Video of the debate was posted to GameDay’s official Twitter, and Kentucky fans were none too happy about the debate even happening.
John Calipari has one National Championship at Kentucky. Is that good enough? https://t.co/CRvpvqT78a

This first segment of College Gameday with Rece Davis trying to make a "controversy" of UK only winning 1 title is a total trainwreck

Granted, Calipari has only won one championship during his tenure in Lexington, in 2012, but has gone 210-44 (90-23 SEC) in spite of that. Moreover, he has led the Wildcats to four Final Fours and two national championship games, not at all bad considering he has only been in Lexington for coming up on seven seasons. Oh, and let’s not forget that he’s probably the best recruiter in the game.
On top of that, Kansas coach Bill Self only has one championship, but nobody amongst the GameDay crew seemed to be saying boo about that.
Nobody may want to admit, but the Kentucky faithful are 1o0 percent right on this one. When it comes to Calipari’s overall legacy, his only having one championship ring shouldn’t be a huge topic in any debate, at least not now.
