Former Alabama linebacker Reggie Ragland knew he had to get in better shape for the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this week, and get in better shape he did. According to a tweet from NFL.com’s Chase Goodbread, Ragland went from 259 pounds to 247 in exactly a month.
Alabama LB Reggie Ragland promised he'd come down from 259 (Senior Bowl). Did just that. Weighed 247 in Indy. Dropped 12 in only a month.

That’s great news for Ragland’s draft stock, especially since he’s of average height for his position at just 6-foot-1. The former four-star recruit from the Huntsville area led the Crimson tide with 102 tackles in 2015, but entered the draft conversation as just someone who could work up the middle and tackle guys with force, not much else. Thus, given how a move to the outside was considered likely on the NFL level, it was time to get in shape.
And given how Ragland dropped that much weight in such a short amount of time does wonders for his stock not only from a football standpoint, but from a personal one. His weight loss shows commitment to succeeding and to scouts, that looks great.
