Earlier this week, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh took a shot at Georgia head coach Kirby Smart on Twitter for his comments about the team’s trip to Florida for spring training in a few weeks. It seems as though Smart is going to let cooler heads prevail in the war of words.
Smart didn’t allow Harbaugh to get in his head and just seemed to let the situation go. He spoke with reporters on Friday and seemed to have gotten over the comments.
“No reaction,” Smart said Friday, according to The Telegraph. “To be honest with you, I’m focused on what we can do at the University of Georgia to get better. That’s the most important thing to me, getting better there.”
The rivalry between Harbaugh and Smart stems from the SEC filing a request to the NCAA that wants them to look into the Wolverines’ trip to Bradenton, Florida, home of IMG Academy, for spring training in just a few weeks. Other administrators have spoken out about the trip as ACC commissioner John Swofford expressed his concerns last week.
It doesn’t seem that the Wolverines’ trip is going to be cut short or canceled, but that doesn’t mean other coaches can’t complain about it. For now, however, I don’t think Harbaugh really cares about what anyone else thinks.
