Video: Virginia student drills halfcourt shot on first try, wins $18,000

I know that there isn’t a single person reading this article that didn’t do the same thing during basketball in gym class growing up. More often than not, you’d probably grab a ball and shoot from halfcourt until you hit the shot twice in a row, right? I know I did!

Well, there’s now a reason besides pure fun as to why practicing that very shot is important. In today’s game between No. 3 Virginia and No. 7 North Carolina in Charlottesville, with ESPN’s College GameDay on the scene, Cavaliers student Andrew Board drilled a halfcourt shot and subsequently won $18,000.

Ready for the crazy part? Board hit the shot ON HIS FIRST TRY. Check out the video below!

Clearly, Mr. Board is either a master of the halfcourt shot or just insanely lucky. As a result, fans nationwide are probably green with envy at the fact that he hit one lucky shot and is now $18,000 richer.

That said, fans, better get to the playground and start practicing again!
