Donald Cerrone vs. Patrick Cote set for June 18 in Ottawa

It looks like Donald Cerrone plans to stick around the welterweight division after a successful 170-pound debut for at least one more fight. Late Friday night, the UFC announced Cerrone will be traveling north of the border to face Patrick Cote at a UFC Fight Night event in Ottawa, Canada on June 18.

Donald Cerrone was previously lobbying for a fight against another Canadian, former welterweight king Georges St-Pierre, at UFC 200, but he will have to settle for another fan favorite.

Cerrone rebounded from a loss to lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos with his submission win over Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night in Pittsburgh, while Cote is riding a hot three-fight winning streak. The winner will make positive strides up the welterweight ladder.

In the main event of UFC Fight Night in Ottawa, Rory MacDonald faces Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson in a No. 1 contender match.
