One of the highlights of No. 7 Wisconsin’s buzzer-beating victory over No. 2 Xavier last night was critically-acclaimed actor and Xavier supporter Bill Murray looking on in shock as the Badgers won, and a Wisconsin fan took the liberty of getting creative with the radio call of Bronson Koenig’s game-winning three-pointer.
Of course, the radio call is used in a famous clip from Murray’s hit film Groundhog Day.
You see, Murray’s son Luke serves as an assistant on Xavier coach Chris Mack’s staff, so chances are that Murray wasn’t feeling very happy after the game last night. Thus, if he were for some reason or another to wake up to a radio call of Koenig’s game-winner again and again and again for an extended period of time, just how Phil Connors constantly wakes up to Sonny and Cher’s “I Got You Babe” in Groundhog Day, odds are greater than none that Bill Murray would bash the living crap out of his alarm clock.
Well played, Badgers fan. Well played.
