New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady will likely miss the first four games of the 2016 season due to his involvement in the DeflateGate Scandal a little over a year ago. It looks like New York Jets wide receiver Eric Decker wants his team to take advantage of Brady’s absence in the first quarter of the season.
Decker joined NFL Network on Friday and said the AFC East is now “up for grabs” due to Brady’s suspension. He believes that his team could be the ones to finally dethrone the Patriots in the division race.
“With Brady being suspended four games, I think it makes the division up for grabs. I believe in this team and we’re ready to make the run now,” Decker said.
The Patriots have won the AFC East 12 of the last 13 seasons and have only missed the playoffs once. The year they didn’t make the playoffs was 2008, when Brady missed 15 games after tearing his ACL in the first game of the season.
It is pretty clear to see why Eric Decker believes the Patriots could be knocked from the top of the mountain. The Jets, who last won the division in 2002, went 10-6 and just barely missed the playoffs in 2015.
If there is any team that could knock out the Patriots, it is the Jets.
