A familiar face is returning to Tuscaloosa, with news that Ed Marynowitz has been rehired as the Crimson Tide’s assistant athletics director for football.
Marynowitz was previously with the program from 2008-12 as the director of player personnel.
“Ed did an outstanding job during his time with us at Alabama, and we are extremely excited to have him return to our staff,” Saban said in a statement, via AL.com. “He brings a wealth of knowledge from both the NFL and collegiate level and will be a tremendous asset to our program.”
Marynowitz left Alabama to join Chip Kelly’s Philadelphia Eagles staff as assistant director of pro scouting before eventually being promoted to vice president of player personnel. After a less than ideal run, he’s now returning to the collegiate ranks.
“This was a unique opportunity to return to the University of Alabama and one that I am very excited about,” Marynowitz said. “Alabama has always been a special place for me and working for coach Saban again was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up.”
The last time Marynowitz was involved with the Crimson Tide, the team went on to win three national titles. The Alabama faithful will be hoping for a repeat of that success.
