ESPN.com’s top-ranked running back for the class of 2017, Najee Harris, is being dubbed as a generational talent by Greg Biggins of Scout.com.
Harris, who is committed to play for Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide, is considered the best running back prospect out of the West Coast in the last decade, according to Biggins, who praised the rusher’s versatility and overall talent.
“If history has shown us anything, a good way to win a Heisman is to be a running back at Alabama. Najee Harris fits both criteria and also happens to be the top overall recruit in the 2017 class. Going a step further, you can make an argument that Harris is the top running back to come out of the West Coast in the last decade and is one of those generational talents that you just don’t see very often,” he wrote.
“He has size, power, speed, the ability to run inside or outside, shows great hands out of the backfield, is highly competitive and works very hard off the field. He really doesn’t have a weakness to his game and should be able to make an immediate impact for the Tide.”
Harris amassed 39 touchdowns (36 rushing) in his junior season at Antioch High School in Calif. He has totaled 63 touchdowns as a varsity player, averaging well over two touchdowns per game throughout his high school career.
The five-star running back is listed at 6-foot-3 and 226 pounds, a frame that has convinced scouts that he could be NFL ready. To think he has another year left of high school football is a scary thought.
The Crimson Tide have certainly landed a gem for their 2017 campaign as he is already expected to be a Heisman Trophy candidate in his rookie season.
