Steve Sarkisian to serve as analyst for Fox Sports 1

Former USC football head coach Steve Sarkisian will be an in-booth analyst for Fox Sports 1 this season, says Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News. Sarkisian will provide his knowledge for more than six games.

None of the games involve Pac-12 squads, however. Most of the ones Sarkisian is slated to appear on feature Big-12 teams.

Sarkisian flamed out of his head coaching job at USC in plain view of the public eye as his long-standing battle with alcoholism began to come to light. Colin Cowherd, currently on a four-year deal with Fox Sports as host of The Herd, and Matt Leinart, former star quarterback at USC under head coach Pete Carroll and a studio analyst for Fox Sports, are both friends with Sarkisian.

A prevailing theory is that perhaps the two worked their connections to extend Sarkisian a quality shot at repairing his image after the very public catastrophe he went through in October of 2015.
