Bellator 162 fight card coming together main, co-main event

|

Bellator MMA announced plans for an upcoming event on Monday, beginning to put together the Bellator 162 fight card which will take place on Oct. 21 at FedExForum in Memphis, Tenn.

In the main event of Bellator 162, former champion Alexander Shlemenko makes his return to the promotion by facing off against UFC veteran Kendall Grove in a heavyweight bout.

Shlemenko (53-9, 1 NC) has not scored a Bellator win since 2014. In his last bout for the promotion, Shlemenko scored a knockout victory over Melvin Manhoef. However, the bout was changed to a no contest due to elevated testosterone levels. Since then, Shlemenko has hauled off two straight wins for the promotion M-1 Global.

Grove (23-15, 1 NC) enters the bout on a two-fight winning streak of his own under the Bellator banner.

In the co-main event, former WWE superstar Bobby Lashley (14-2) meets Josh Appelt (12-5) in a heavyweight showdown.

Tickets for the event go on sale September 2 at Bellator.com, Ticketmaster or FedExForum Box Office.
