Walk-on players don’t always get the playing time on the field, but there are special cases where their hard work in practice lands them a full-time scholarship. Over the weekend, Alabama head coach Nick Saban and Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin both awarded three walk-on players scholarships for the upcoming season.
The Crimson Tide coach had a very special announcement following the team’s practice on Friday. Saban awarded defensive back Levi Wallace and tight ends Truett Harris and Brandon Moore full scholarships in a cool video.

Saturday night, the Aggies decided to do the same thing, giving out three scholarships to walk-on players: junior punter Shane Tripucka, junior tight end Tanner Schorp and sophomore linebacker Cullen Gillaspia. The latter had an epic reaction to his scholarship.
These three players for the Aggies are going to play a big role as Tripucka won the starting job for the 2016 season, Schorp was listed as a co-starter on the offense and Gillaspia is fighting for a first-string job at weakside linebacker.
It is going to be a fun season in the SEC.
