Report: Alabama names Blake Barnett starting QB against USC

The Alabama Crimson Tide have had a great quarterback battle all summer long and with their season opener just around the corner, it seems they have found their guy. It was reported that redshirt freshman Blake Barnett will start against the USC Trojans tonight.

Matt Zenitz of AL.com reported that Barnett had beaten out the likes of Jalen Hurts and Cooper Bateman for the starting job. There is no news of if they will run multiple signal callers in the game today.

This is certainly big news for the Crimson Tide after Jake Coker went 14-0 as a starter for the team in 2015. Barnett has some work to do if they are going to have a good look offensively.

The Crimson Tide and Trojans take the field at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
