BYU, Utah extend Holy War through 2022

One of the biggest rivalries in college football has been renewed.

On Thursday, the BYU and Utah football programs announced an agreement to extend the Holy War rivalry through the 2022 season. The series was originally scheduled to end in 2019.

“BYU-Utah is one of the great college rivalries in the country. There’s a lot of history and tradition between the two schools and I’m glad we were able to extend the series through 2022,” BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe said in a statement.

“I’ve loved this rivalry as a player, coach and administrator, and look forward to the future games.”

In the most recent installment of the rivalry earlier this year, 20-19, after stopping BYU’s two-point conversion attempt with 18 seconds left on the clock.

Overall, Utah holds a 56-31-4 edge in the Holy War series.
