Cleveland Browns reportedly asked Deshaun Watson to play in Senior Bowl

Clemson star Deshaun Watson turned down an invitation to play in the 2017 Senior Bowl.
As it turns out, it could prove to be a costly decision because Peter King of The MMQB reports the Cleveland Browns, owners of the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, actually asked the Tigers quarterback to participate in the week of practice of Saturday’s game.
Watson ultimately declined, which King calls “a terrific waste of opportunity.”
There are varying opinions on where Watson will land in April’s draft, with some believing he is a guaranteed top 16 pick, others predicting he will be in consideration for the top pick and another group of scouts and NFL personnel members questioning whether he’s even worth a first-round pick.
Of course, this early in the draft all of that is posturing and the smokescreens will continue to come.
While Watson could have solidified himself as the No. 1 pick with a strong Senior Bowl performance in front of the Browns staff, he will still have a chance to shine at Clemson’s Pro Day and the NFL Scouting Combine.
