One starter on the Alabama football team’s defensive unit could miss some time after suffering a gunshot wound over the weekend.
According to a report from Stephanie Taylor of The Tuscaloosa News, defensive tackle Raekwon Davis was shot in the leg early Sunday morning. Davis was struck by a stray bullet while standing outside of a Tuscaloosa bar.
“The victim told investigators he was standing outside of Bar 17 when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot in the right leg,” Homicide Unit commander Capt. Gary Hood said.
“The victim was uncooperative with investigators.”
The injury was described as “minor,” so there’s no word on how much time — if any — Davis could miss.
Alabama opens its 2017 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Florida State at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game.
