The UNC basketball team will be without star point guard Joel Berry II for at least a month.
On Monday, it was announced by the university that the Tar Heels standout suffered a broken bone in his right hand which will require at least four weeks to heal.
There were no details provided on how Berry suffered the injury.
Last season, Berry averaged 14.7 points and 3.6 assists for North Carolina on the team’s national title run. In the championship game against Gonzaga, Berry recorded a game-high 22 points and was named the Final Four’s Most Outstanding Player.
Leading up to his senior campaign, Berry a preseason candidate for the Bob Cousy Award as the nation’s top point guard and a member of ESPN’s preseason All-America first team.
The Tar Heels officially tip-off their season on Friday, Nov. 10 against Northern Iowa.
