Week 13 of the college football season is in the books, so ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit has rolled out his latest College Football Playoff projections, picking the top four teams in the nation.
On rivalry weekend, any previous projections can be thrown to the wayside.
In Week 13, the No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide and No. 2 Miami Hurricanes both suffered upset losses, opening the door for teams that were previously on the outside looking in.
So who could benefit from the top two teams falling?
According to Herbstreit, the Auburn Tigers, which have knocked off two No. 1 teams in three weeks, could find themselves sitting in the No. 1 spot with the Clemson Tigers at No. 2.
In the projections, Oklahoma sits at No. 3 and would face the Tigers in one semifinal, while the Georgia Bulldogs occupy the final spot and would face Auburn. Of course, that will all change once again next weekend when Auburn and Georgia face off for the second time this season with a meeting in Atlanta for the SEC Championship.
On the outside looking in is Wisconsin and Alabama.
