The 2017-18 college football bowl season rolls on Wednesday night with a meeting between the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and SMU Mustangs in the inaugural DXL Frisco Bowl.
It is the first bowl game for SMU since 2012, and they will also be welcoming in a new head coach as Sonny Dykes steps in to lead the Mustangs in the bowl game.
Dykes coached at Louisiana Tech from 2010-2012 beforemaking the move to Cal,so there will be plenty of familiarity between the two programs.
It marks the fifth time that Louisiana Tech and SMU have met,with the Bulldogs winning the last outing in 2010, 41-10. Overall, Louisiana Tech is 3-1 in the series.
