Alabama Tops Clemson To Reach National Championship

The Alabama football team is returning to the national championship.

On Monday night, the Crimson Tide rolled over the defending champion Clemson Tigers in the AllState Sugar Bowl, 24-6, to set up an all-SEC College Football Playoff National Championship Game against Georgia.

Alabama’s defense was the star of the show, limiting the Clemson offense to just 188 yards on the night.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts was named the Offensive MVP of the game, while defensive tackle Da’Ron Payne earned Defensive MVP honors.

As a result of their dominating performance, the Crimson Tide will finally get the opportunity to face off against Georgia in a game that many thought would have been this year’s SEC Championship Game. The matchup may have been delayed, but now the two teams get to meet at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.

The College Football Playoff National Championship Game is set for Monday, Jan. 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
