The Alabama football program is looking ahead to Monday night’s clash with Georgia in the College Football Playoff National Championship and they’re hoping to erase the bad taste left in their mouths after last year’s loss to Clemson in the title game.
This week, Alabama strength coach Scott Cochran made sure to put the past behind the Crimson Tide in a very theatrical way.
Coachran came into the locker room holding last year’s runner-up trophy high above his head. He then slammed the trophy onto the ground which sent it shattering into pieces.
But Cochran wasn’t done, because he took a few swings with a sledgehammer to really drive home the point.
The video was posted to wide receiver Jerry Jeudy’s Snapchat story.

That’s one way to drive home a point.
Alabama will be hoping to replace the broken award in its trophy case with a new national championship trophy in a matter of days. At the very least, they’ll have another trophy to destroy next year.
Kickoff between the Crimson Tide and Bulldogs is set for 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN.
