Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield is impressing scouts early in Mobile, Alabama.
On Tuesday, the Oklahoma Sooners star quarterback took the field for his first practice of Senior Bowl week and was quick to show off his timing and touch at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
Mayfield showed up to the Senior Bowl late due to a family emergency, but made it clear that he was there to put on a show.
” Still, he settled in and was the best quarterback in the team session, throwing two first downs on back-to-back throws, including a dart to Colorado State’s Michael Gallup in between two defenders,” ESPN’s Todd McShay wrote.
Daniel Jeremiah of NFL.com added:
“Oklahoma QB Baker Mayfield continues to show people that when it comes to timing, touch and anticipation, he has all the stuff. That’s where he separates himself from other QBs. He hit a couple skinny.”
Mayfield is widely regarded as a potential first-round pick and is in Mobile alongside Josh Allen, who has been projected by some as the potential No. 1 overall pick.
If Mayfield continues to flash his skills throughout the week, he could find himself rising up draft boards at the perfect time.
