Penn State star Saquon Barkley is widely regarded as the No. 1 running back in the 2018 NFL Draft class and he is ready to put on a show at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis this weekend.
On Thursday afternoon, the Nittany Lions standout wasted no time showing why he comes with so much buzz.
Barkley got his workouts underway by putting in some work on the bench press. The average for running backs at the NFL Combine is 17 reps of 225-pounds, but Barkley blew past that mark with a whopping 29 reps.
Georgia’s Sony Michel, Auburn’s Kamryn Pettway, and LSU’s Darrel Williams all recorded 22.
No other running backs topped 20 reps.

Barkley will join the rest of the running backs, offensive linemen and special teamers for on-field workouts at Lucas Oil Stadium on Friday. You can expect to see Barkley putting up stellar numbers when it comes to on-field drills like the 40-yard dash, vertical jump, and 3-cone drill.
