Since the 2018 NFL Draft season officially kicked off with the Senior Bowl and NFL Scouting Combine, Heisman Trophy winner Baker Mayfield has been gaining ground and rising up draft boards. Once considered a top 15 pick, there is now a belief that Mayfield could be in the mix for the No. 1 overall pick of the Cleveland Browns.
Because of that, it’s only natural that Browns head coach Hue Jackson has been receiving questions about the former Oklahoma Sooners quarterback.
Mayfield has consistently been compared to former Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel, who is currently attempting a comeback to the league, but Jackson had another name in mind and it was quite puzzling.
What is Mayfield’s NFL comparison? According to Jackson, it is The Pied Piper.
Wait… what?
“I feel like he’s a Pied Piper of Oklahoma football. When he walked into the bldg, he made this sound – kind of went hee hee — & all the players in the bldg started going hee hee and here we go. Most unbelievable thing I’ve ever seen,” Jackson said, via ESPN Cleveland’s Tony Grossi.
If that makes no sense to you, don’t worry, because everyone else who read the message on Twitter was just as confused.
