Baker Mayfield is just hours away from learning where he will begin his NFL career. The Heisman Trophy-winner entered draft season as a projected top 15 pick but after strong showings in Mobile, Alabama for the Senior Bowl and impressive one-on-one sessions with teams around the league, Mayfield has been on the rise. And with the draft just around the corner, there is even a belief that the former Oklahoma Sooners star could end up being the No. 1 overall pick.
In fact, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, teams around the league are beginning to think that Mayfield is the player the Cleveland Browns are zeroing in on.
“Browns continue to keep the decision on their No. 1 pick a secret, but there is a mounting belief from [head coaches] and [general managers] around the league that Cleveland will take Baker Mayfield,” Schefter wrote on Twitter.
If Mayfield does go No. 1, it will be interesting to see where the remainder of the top signal-callers — Josh Allen, Sam Darnold and Josh Rosen — end up falling.
The 2018 NFL Draft begins at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN and the NFL Network.
