Jake Fromm, the standout quarterback for the UGA football program, was sent to the hospital for a bizarre injury. One could say, however, that the injury Fromm suffered is the most SEC injury possible. As it turns out, the Georgia Bulldogs signal-caller was out fishing when he got a lure stuck in his leg. Last season, Fromm replaced injured starter Jacob Eason and never relinquished the job.
“At the time, I was worried about App State, who had a really good defense,” Smart said at the time Fromm took over. “They had played Tennessee well the year before and we were very concerned about their team. It gave us a little momentum in that game and I thought, ‘Well this young guy came in and did a good job.’ ”
Georgia kicks off its 2018 campaign on Sept. 1 against Austin Peay at Sanford Stadium in Athens.
