Last season, the Crimson Tide won the national championship, but that is not the only incredible accomplishment for the football program. According to a financial report filed by the university, the football program profited nearly $46.5 million.
The program was able to make $37 million in ticket sales and nearly $20 million in private donations.
Alabama’s football team was able to keep the entire athletic department in the black. The total revenue of the athletic department was nearly $100 million, but they had expenses of $48.6 million. Their profit was down nearly $7 million from the 2014 season.
Coaches salaries rose from 2014 by nearly $3 million, including Nick Saban who made almost $8 million for the 2015 season.
Overall, the athletic department made approximately $16.6 million in profit.
As most schools struggle to fund athletics, it is nice to see one school make a profit off of it.
