Five-star SG Terrance Ferguson commits to Alabama

The Alabama Crimson Tide and head coach Avery Johnson and hoping to turn the school’s basketball program back around in a hurry. It has been a long time since Alabama was looked at as a place that could be taken seriously on the basketball court. They are obviously a football school, but hiring a former NBA star has put them back on the map with the recruits.

Terrance Ferguson, a five-star shooting guard in the 2016 recruiting class, has announced his decision to join the Crimson Tide’s basketball program.

Ferguson is currently ranked as the nation’s 11th best prospect in the 2016 recruiting class. He turned down offers from much bigger basketball schools to join Alabama’s program. It shows just how well Johnson is doing already in his collegiate coaching career, and bodes well for the future of the program.

At 6-foot-6 with extreme athleticism, Ferguson has an incredibly bright future ahead of him. He is one of the best dunkers in the class, and has enough talent to make a run at the NBA Draft at some point in the future.

That being said, it will be intriguing to follow along and see how he grows under Johnson’s mentoring. He certainly will have the type of coaching that he will need to take himself to the next level. Assuming he continues working hard on his game and doesn’t lose the passion that has gotten him this far, there isn’t much that can hold him back.

Expect to see him make a huge impact on the Alabama basketball program, and be one of the cornerstones in bringing it back to relevance.
